The Big Three’s Loanees Are Thriving In The Motsepe Foundation Championship

South Africa’s football giants, Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, are continuing to invest in the development of their young players by sending them on loan to gain valuable first-team experience. Several promising youngsters are competing in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, where regular game time can help them improve and prepare for the demands of top-flight football.

Kaizer Chiefs have loaned several prospects to clubs where they can develop away from the pressure of competing at Naturena. Goalkeeper Bontle Molefe, midfielder Samkelo Zwane and attacker Naledi Hlongwane are currently gaining experience with Cape Town-based Hope FC.

Zwane is hoping to establish himself as a regular starter, while Hlongwane has been deployed on the left wing. Meanwhile, Molefe has benefited from opportunities between the posts, allowing him to gain valuable experience and strengthen his prospects of returning to the Chiefs first team.

Real Native have also welcomed two Chiefs youngsters, Ofentse Kgosana and Vicky Mkhawana. Kgosana has already made an impact, scoring the winning goal against The Bees to help Real Native move into second place in the league standings at that stage of the campaign.

Elsewhere, Sifiso Timba and Xolani Cossa are developing their skills at Gomora United through regular competitive football.

Mamelodi Sundowns are following a similar strategy, with Jody Ah Shene, Aphelele Teto and Siyabonga Mabena joining the University of Pretoria, popularly known as AmaTuks, for the 2026/27 season.

These loan arrangements offer young players opportunities to gain experience, build confidence and demonstrate their potential before returning to their parent clubs to compete for senior-team positions.
