Suallah Anas Suwari declares bid for NDC Deputy Youth Organiser

Listen to this articleAI narrationPlayback position0:002:281010Playback speed1×Suallah Anas Suwari, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Youth Wing Finance Committee, has declared his intention to contest the position of Deputy National Youth Organiser in the party’s 2026 national executive elections.

In a statement addressed to “Dear Comrades”, Suwari said the NDC’s return to government has changed the question before the Youth Wing. The task, he said, is no longer whether it can mobilise for victory, but whether it can build beyond it.

He cautioned that victory can create the impression that organisation may slow down, but said history teaches the opposite. It is after victory, he said, that movements must guard against complacency, weakened structures, and the replacement of shared purpose with individual ambition. The energy that carried the party into government, he said, must become an institution that is active, disciplined, and connected to its members.

Suwari said he was responding to calls from the party’s youth. He said he would pick the forms required under the electoral timetable while continuing to consult members to build a campaign “rooted in the shared progress of the Youth Wing”.

Drawing on his experience in enterprise, youth engagement, and party service, he said institutions grow when responsibility is shared, not through the prominence of one person. This, he said, is the meaning of his campaign theme, “Beyond the Victory”.

He described the theme as more than a slogan. It reflects, he said, a Youth Wing that consolidates its gains, develops its members, and stays strong even when its leaders change. Young people, he said, should inherit a political institution with a clear identity, a culture of service, and room for successive generations to lead, not merely memories of electoral campaigns.

He offered himself as a “dependable partner” ready to serve within collective leadership.

The NDC opened nominations for national executive positions on 20 October 2026 and closed them on 21 October. The party’s timetable schedules vetting for 12 and 13 November, and the National Congress for 19 December, when national executives will be elected.

“The victory has been won. The institution must now be built,” Suwari said.
