Steve Echendu Dies Hours After Francis Duru’s Death

Veteran Nollywood actor, producer and director Steve Echendu has reportedly died after battling an undisclosed illness.

His colleague, Wisdom Nwankwo, announced the news in a Facebook post, expressing sadness over the loss of two industry figures within five days.

Nwankwo also disclosed the death of Nollywood figure Austinfair Nwaulu, urging people to check on their friends and loved ones, noting that life is unpredictable.

Echendu was known for his roles in films such as Fury (2019), Knockout Blessing (2018) and Infant at Heart (2024).

Our correspondent reports that the development comes as veteran actor Francis Duru was also reported to have died on October 23, 2026, at the age of 57, following a brief illness.
