Speculations As New Online Poll Alleges The Most Preferred Presidential Candidate Ahead Of 2027 Poll

President William Ruto has emerged as the leading presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 General Election, according to a new survey by Research 8020 shared by TV47 Digital on October 23, 2026.

The poll places Ruto at 26 per cent, putting him ahead of individual opposition figures as political leaders continue positioning themselves for the next election.

However, the findings suggest that the opposition could face a major challenge in its efforts to challenge the president, with no single figure having secured enough support to bring the competing political camps together.

Edwin Sifuna is identified as the closest challenger to Ruto, although the graphic does not provide a clear percentage for his support. His position comes at a time when opposition leaders are engaging in political activities and seeking to build support ahead of the 2027 contest.

The survey also places Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka at 11 per cent, followed by former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i at nine per cent. Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua records seven per cent, according to the figures displayed in the graphic.

Other presidential hopefuls and political figures are shown with smaller shares of support, with several candidates each receiving two per cent or less. Their combined presence reflects the wide range of interests within the opposition as leaders seek to establish themselves before the election campaigns gather momentum.

Ruto’s 26 per cent support, compared with the 69 per cent attributed collectively to other candidates, also points to a divided political field rather than a settled contest between two leading candidates. The combined figure for other candidates does not represent the support of a single challenger.

The findings could renew debate over whether opposition leaders should agree on one presidential candidate or allow individual aspirants to compete for support before settling on a flag bearer.

With the election still ahead, the political landscape remains open to change. Alliances, campaign strategies and the ability of candidates to attract voters beyond their traditional strongholds could influence the final outcome.

The survey offers an early indication of voter preferences, but the figures alone do not determine who will win the 2027 presidential election.
