Regina Daniels’ friend, Ann Izuegbu, arraigned in Abuja, remanded in prison
Months after her arraignment was stalled, Anthonet Ngozi Izuegbu, popularly known as Ann and a friend of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, has been rearrested and arraigned before a Federal High Court in Abuja over alleged cybercrime offences.
Following her arraignment, the court ordered that she be remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre pending further proceedings. The case has been adjourned until December 10, 2026.
NATIONAL WAVES gathered that Ann was rearrested on Monday following a petition reportedly written by Regina Daniels, who allegedly accused her of stealing her property and blackmail.
Ann was subsequently arraigned on Wednesday over alleged offences, while the police are expected to file additional charges against her.
A court document confirming her remand at the Suleja Correctional Centre has also emerged.
Months before the latest development, a statement issued by the media team of Senator Ned Nwoko and made available to NATIONAL WAVES offered a different account of the allegations surrounding Ann’s arrest.
The statement dismissed what it described as misleading and inflammatory narratives circulating on social media, insisting that Ann had been arrested in connection with alleged criminal defamation involving the lawmaker.
According to the statement, Ann allegedly made public claims that Senator Nwoko physically assaulted his wife, Mrs Laila Nwoko, resulting in a miscarriage.
The media team denied the allegations, describing them as false and insisting that no such incident occurred and that no miscarriage resulted from any alleged violence.
It further alleged that the statements were made without evidence and formed part of an attempt to reinforce previously circulated allegations of domestic violence.
The statement also alleged that Ann was implicated in procuring an abortion for Regina Daniels during her marriage to Senator Nwoko. It maintained that the matter had previously been referenced publicly by Regina herself.
These claims remain allegations attributed to the senator’s media team and should not be treated as established facts in the absence of independent verification or a judicial determination.
The statement also referred to a formal witness statement dated October 29, 2025, reportedly submitted to the Area Commander at Maitama Police Station.
According to the media team, the statement detailed alleged activities involving Ann and other individuals, including claims that she routinely sourced, handled and administered controlled or illegal substances to Regina Daniels and people around her.
The statement further alleged that Ann published a social media post shortly before her arrest in which she made threats, derogatory remarks and defamatory accusations against Senator Nwoko and Mrs Laila Nwoko.
The media team maintained that the matter should be treated as a law-enforcement issue rather than a mere dispute on social media.
It also rejected suggestions that the arrest amounted to suppression or victimisation, insisting that the case should be handled through established legal procedures.
However, the allegations contained in the statement have not, by themselves, established Ann’s guilt.
Ann’s latest arraignment follows an earlier court appearance that did not proceed as scheduled.
The case came before Justice Ekerete Akpan of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday, July 16, 2026. However, proceedings were stalled after Ann reportedly collapsed and was absent from court.
The matter was subsequently adjourned until September 15, 2026.
Her latest arraignment marks a new development in the legal proceedings surrounding the allegations against her.
With the case now adjourned until December 10, 2026, further proceedings are expected to clarify the specific charges before the court and the evidence the prosecution intends to present.
For now, the allegations against Ann remain subject to the judicial process, and she is entitled to the presumption of innocence unless proven guilty by a competent court.
