Meet Owners of Nairobi School Where Students Pay Upto KSh 1.5m School Fees

Parents seeking private international education in Kenya can pay anywhere between KSh 180,600 and KSh 1,582,000 a year in tuition at schools linked to South African investors, according to published 2026 fee schedules.

JSE-listed ADvTECH Group controls two of the brands, Crawford International and Makini Schools. A third South African-linked operator, Nova Pioneer, competes in a different segment.

Crawford International, based in Tatu City, follows the British curriculum from nursery to A-Levels and is ADvTECH’s top-tier Kenyan offering.

Nursery 2 costs KSh 558,000 a year, rising to KSh 855,000 at Kindergarten 3. Grades 1 and 2 cost between KSh 948,000 and KSh 999,000, Grades 3 to 5 cost KSh 1,134,000, and Grades 6 to 8 range from KSh 1,377,000 to KSh 1,422,000. IGCSE students in Grades 9 and 10 pay about KSh 1,520,000, while A-Level students pay the highest at KSh 1,582,000.

Parents also face a KSh 5,500 application fee, a KSh 44,000 admission fee and a refundable textbook deposit of KSh 25,000. Transport adds an estimated KSh 50,000 to KSh 80,000 a year.

ADvTECH bought a majority stake in Makini Schools in 2018 and expanded the network in 2025 by absorbing Regis Runda Academy. At the Runda campus, CBC fees run from KSh 180,600 for daycare to KSh 430,920 for Grade 10 and Forms 3 and 4.

Cambridge programmes at the Ngong Road campus cost roughly KSh 279,000 to KSh 405,000 annually, while Kisumu campuses charge about KSh 37,377 to KSh 52,174 per term.

Nova Pioneer operates independently of ADvTECH. At its Tatu City primary campus, PP1 tuition is KSh 83,500 per term, with meals at KSh 22,700, bringing the annual cost to about KSh 318,600. Day primary tuition is about KSh 420,000 a year.

The school says its fees include a laptop, internet, software, learning materials and trips within Nairobi.

Parents have been advised to confirm current fees with admissions offices, since transport, uniforms, lunch and extracurricular activities can raise the total considerably.
