Made in Ghana Products Set for Big Break as GEPA CEO Unveils Accra Trade House and Friday Market

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), Francis Kojo Kwarteng Arthur, Esq., has officially launched the Accra Trade House and its Friday Market, in a move aimed at strengthening the visibility of locally manufactured products and creating new opportunities for Ghanaian businesses.

The initiative is designed to provide local enterprises with a platform to showcase Made-in-Ghana products, connect with potential customers and expand their reach in the domestic and international markets.

The launch represents an important step towards promoting Ghanaian entrepreneurship and encouraging greater appreciation for products manufactured within the country.

Through the Accra Trade House and its Friday Market, businesses will have opportunities to present their goods directly to consumers, introduce new products and build relationships that could support their long term growth.

The initiative also seeks to bridge the gap between local producers and consumers by creating a dedicated space where Ghanaian products can be discovered, assessed and purchased.

For many small and medium-sized enterprises, gaining access to customers and suitable markets remains a major challenge. Limited visibility and difficulties in promoting products can prevent promising businesses from reaching their full commercial potential.

The Friday Market is expected to help address some of these challenges by giving participating businesses a platform to market their products and interact directly with prospective buyers.

The initiative could also encourage consumers to pay closer attention to locally manufactured alternatives across various sectors, including food processing, cosmetics, textiles, beverages and other consumer goods.

Promoting locally made products is widely regarded as an important component of efforts to strengthen domestic industries, support entrepreneurship and create employment opportunities.

However, expanding the market for Made in Ghana products requires more than simply providing display spaces. Businesses must also maintain consistent product quality, competitive pricing, attractive packaging and reliable supply to meet consumer expectations.

The Accra Trade House initiative could therefore serve as a valuable opportunity for local enterprises to receive customer feedback, improve their offerings and identify new commercial opportunities.

For businesses with ambitions beyond Ghana, increased exposure to consumers can also help them understand market preferences and prepare for the demands of international trade.

As the institution responsible for promoting Ghanaian exports, GEPA plays an important role in helping local businesses identify opportunities to reach customers beyond the domestic market.

The launch of the Accra Trade House and Friday Market places renewed emphasis on the importance of connecting Ghanaian producers with consumers while encouraging the growth of homegrown brands.

Ultimately, the success of the initiative will depend on sustained participation by businesses, consumer support and the ability to turn increased product visibility into lasting commercial growth.

By creating another avenue for local enterprises to showcase their goods, GEPA is seeking to ensure that Made in Ghana products receive greater recognition and stronger market opportunities.
