Kenkey Is GH¢10 In Ashaiman, Not GH¢5 – NPP’s Moses Abor Exposes Real Price On The Ground
The Greater Accra Regional Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Moses Abor, has challenged claims that kenkey is cheap on the market.
According to him, the reality on the ground in Ashaiman is completely different from the GH¢5 price some people are quoting.
“The last time I bought kenkey in Ashaiman was a few days ago, it was GH¢10 not GH¢5,” he said.
Moses Abor said this while firing shots at the current NDC government over the high cost of living.
He said when the NPP was in power, the same ball of kenkey was selling at GH¢3, but today it has jumped to GH¢10.
“They said the NPP was not good, but when we were in power, kenkey was GH¢3. Now, kenkey costs GH¢10,” he added.
Kenkey is not just food. For many Ghanaians, it is daily survival. When its price doubles, it means families are spending more money for less food.
His comment comes at a time when many Ghanaians are complaining about food prices, transport fares and rent.
For the common person in Ashaiman, Kasoa or Accra, the debate is not about politics. It is about what is in their pocket.
And according to Moses Abor, what is in the pocket today can only buy one ball of kenkey for GH¢10.
