From Foreign Hands To Ghanaian Heart – Damang Residents Finally Taste Real Mine Money Under Ibrahim

The takeover of the Damang Mine by Ibrahim Mahama is already changing lives in Damang, and people are seeing it with their own eyes.

According to Paul Yamdoh, who visited Damang to observe the situation on the ground, residents are truly benefiting from the new management.

He said the true essence of change is not just talk, but tangible improvements that people can feel in their daily lives and in their communities – and that is exactly what is happening in Damang.

Since Engineers and Planners (E&P), the Ghanaian-owned company belonging to Ibrahim Mahama, took over Damang Gold Mine Ltd in April 2026, the story has been different.

Residents say they can now see real development. The company has started road projects, is working on an airstrip and a road corridor, and has even promised sports facilities, hospitals and other community projects. They have also started channeling proceeds from commercial crops into community development.

More importantly, jobs are coming. In just four months, nearly 400 locals, mostly from the catchment communities, have been employed. The company says 62% of its regular staff are from host communities. Chiefs like Nana Ngoro II of Amoanda have openly expressed satisfaction and urged residents to support Ibrahim Mahama.

Paul Yamdoh said this is what happens when a Ghanaian owns a mine. Local ownership brings confidence, jobs stay in the community, and money stays in Ghana.

He stressed that change should not be about press conferences in Accra, but about whether the woman in Damang can get a good road, whether the youth can get a job, and whether the community can feel the mine’s presence.

And according to his observations, Damang is finally feeling it.
