CIO Grand Mufti Sheikh Shafi’i launches app to archive, share his lectures

* Platform offers an organised collection of recorded Islamic lectures, offline downloads and background listening for users worldwide

The Grand Mufti of the Conference of Islamic Organisations (CIO), Sheikh Zikrullah Shafi’i, has launched a mobile application designed to provide an organised collection of his recorded Islamic lectures and make them more accessible to listeners around the world.

The Android application, named Sheikh Shafii, is available on the Google Play Store, offering users a dedicated digital platform to explore the scholar’s lectures, arranged by topics and series.

The development team, led by Abdur-Rahmon Dhikrullah, said the application was developed to simplify access to Sheikh Shaffi’s recorded teachings and provide a convenient way for users to listen to them at home, at work or on the move.

According to the team, the app serves as a central platform for collecting and organising the scholar’s lectures, allowing listeners to revisit previous teachings and explore available recordings without relying solely on physical gatherings or scattered audio files.

The application supports offline downloads, enabling users to save lectures directly to their devices for listening without an internet connection.

Other features include a favourites section for bookmarking preferred lectures, listening history to help users resume playback from where they stopped, and background playback that allows audio to continue when the phone screen is switched off or another application is in use.

“Our team set out to build a lightweight, feature-rich platform that gives users instant, distraction-free access to spiritual knowledge,” the development lead said. “We are thrilled to bring this release to the global Android community.”

Collection covers Islamic teachings and contemporary issues

The application brings together Sheikh Shafi’i’s recorded lectures on subjects including Islamic jurisprudence, worship, faith, spiritual development and contemporary issues affecting Muslims.

Its Google Play listing describes subject areas drawing on the Qur’an and Sunnah, including practical Islamic guidance and answers to everyday religious questions.

Beyond providing access to individual lectures, the app offers a dedicated platform through which listeners can explore the scholar’s recorded teachings in an organised format and return to them at their convenience.

It is designed for people interested in Sheikh Shafi’is teachings, regardless of their religious background or ideological leaning, providing an opportunity to engage with his perspectives on Islamic principles and contemporary issues.

However, a complete, independently verified list of the individual lecture titles was not available from the public listing at the time of writing.

Sheikh Zikrullah Shafi’i is the Grand Mufti of the Conference of Islamic Organisations, an umbrella body bringing together Islamic organisations in Nigeria.

He is known for his lectures on Islamic jurisprudence, religious understanding and spiritual development, as well as discussions on issues affecting Muslims and the wider society.

The launch of the application provides a digital archive for his recorded lectures, extending access to his teachings beyond physical gatherings and making it easier for listeners to discover, save and revisit available recordings.

The Sheikh Shafi’i application is available for Android devices through the Google Play Store. Users can download it, browse the available lectures and series, and save audio content for offline listening.
