Bring Mourinho or Guardiola: Chiefs Captain Drops a Bombshell Amid Brutal Results Crisis
“BRING MOURINHO OR GUARDIOLA!”: Inacio Miguel Sends Strong Message to Kaizer Chiefs Players Amid Results Crisis
Kaizer Chiefs captain Inacio Miguel has delivered a powerful message to his teammates, insisting that no coaching appointment can solve the club’s problems unless the players demonstrate greater commitment and take responsibility for their performances on the pitch.
The Angolan defender has dismissed suggestions that a language barrier between head coach Fernando Da Cruz and his players is contributing to the Soweto giants’ recent struggles. According to Miguel, the coach’s instructions are clear, leaving the players with the responsibility of translating those ideas into positive results.
“You can bring Mourinho, you can bring Guardiola. If us players we don’t fight, if we don’t have the commitment on the pitch…” Miguel said, highlighting the importance of effort and accountability within the squad.
He added: “For me, there is no barrier between the coach and the players. Everything is very clear.”
The captain’s comments come at a difficult time for Amakhosi, who have faced growing pressure from supporters following a series of disappointing performances across competitions.
Chiefs have struggled to turn their performances into victories, raising questions about their tactical approach, attacking effectiveness and ability to compete consistently under Da Cruz.
Their recent run included three consecutive draws in the Betway Premiership before a damaging 1-0 defeat against Zambia’s Red Arrows in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary-round tie on 17 October 2026.
The defeat increased the pressure on Da Cruz and his technical team ahead of the return leg at Moses Mabhida Stadium, where Chiefs must deliver a significantly improved performance to keep their continental ambitions alive.
However, Miguel believes changing coaches would not automatically solve the club’s difficulties if the players fail to execute their responsibilities.
His reference to Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola, two of football’s most recognisable managerial figures, underlines his belief that even elite coaching expertise cannot guarantee success without determination, discipline and teamwork from the players.
The defender also acknowledged that Chiefs are not performing at the level expected of a club with such a large following and rich history.
“We’re not doing good enough… We have to do better,” Miguel stressed.
His remarks place the spotlight firmly on the dressing room as Amakhosi attempt to rebuild confidence and restore consistency during a demanding period of the season.
Da Cruz, who was appointed in June 2026, is still working to establish his methods and develop a team capable of challenging for major honours. While questions have emerged about his tactical decisions, Miguel’s comments suggest that the players remain responsible for ensuring the coach’s plans are properly implemented.
For Chiefs supporters, the message is straightforward: improvement must be visible on the pitch, not merely promised in interviews.
With crucial fixtures approaching, Miguel and his teammates now face the challenge of turning their captain’s strong words into performances that can silence critics and restore belief at Naturena.
