BREAKING: FKF Issues Fresh Warning To Fans Carrying These To Stadiums During Matches
The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has issued a fresh warning to all 18 SportPesa League clubs over the use of flares, smoke bombs, fireworks and other pyrotechnic devices during match days.
In a communique dated October 23, 2026, the federation reiterated that such items are strictly prohibited inside stadiums and around their perimeters, warning that clubs found violating the regulations risk disciplinary sanctions.
FKF noted that all clubs had been informed about the ban at the beginning of the season. However, reports of pyrotechnic incidents at several matches have forced the federation to issue another reminder to ensure compliance.
The federation emphasized that the use of fireworks and other similar devices poses a threat to safety and security during football matches, particularly when supporters gather in large numbers to cheer their respective teams.
According to the directive, any club associated with further incidents could face disciplinary action in line with the applicable football regulations.
FKF has also instructed clubs to communicate the warning to their supporters and take the necessary steps to prevent fans from bringing prohibited items into stadiums.
The clubs are expected to work closely with match organisers and relevant security personnel to enforce the directive and maintain order during league fixtures.
The federation further warned that continued violations would not be tolerated, urging club officials to take responsibility for the conduct of their supporters both inside stadiums and within surrounding areas.
The move comes as the governing body seeks to strengthen match-day safety and ensure that SportPesa League fixtures are played in a secure and orderly environment.
FKF expressed appreciation for the clubs’ continued cooperation in promoting safety, security and discipline during matches, while insisting that full compliance with the directive remains mandatory.
The warning serves as a reminder to clubs and supporters that enthusiasm for football must not compromise the safety of players, officials, fans and other people attending matches.
All 18 clubs are therefore expected to implement the measures immediately and ensure that future fixtures proceed without incidents involving flares, smoke bombs or fireworks.
