2026 Ballon D’Or: Lewandowski names top two players to win award

According to a report by Daily Post Nigeria, on Friday October 23, 2026, Robert Lewandowski has identified Lamine Yamal and Harry Kane as leading contenders for the 2026 Ballon d’Or, with the winner due to be announced in London on Monday.

The Poland striker also suggested Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise could have joined the race if he had scored more goals at the World Cup.

“If Olise had scored one or two goals at the World Cup, perhaps he would have been one of the strongest candidates alongside Lamine and Harry Kane,” Lewandowski said.

However, Lewandowski is personally backing Yamal, his former Barcelona teammate, to claim the award. The young forward has enjoyed a standout season, winning LaLiga with Barcelona and the World Cup with Spain.

“Of course, I support Lamine Yamal to win the Ballon d’Or. He’s amazing, especially for his age,” Lewandowski said.

Yamal’s performances have made him one of the names to watch ahead of the ceremony, while Kane and Olise are also part of the conversation surrounding this year’s prize.
