We Will Continue To Support – GoldBod Continues To Shore Up Cedi With Increased Forex Supply
The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) is continuing its support for the recovery and stability of the Ghana cedi through increased foreign exchange supply to the market.
The intervention comes at a time when the local currency has recorded over three consecutive weeks of appreciation against the US dollar on the interbank market, a development largely attributed to improved dollar liquidity.
According to GoldBod, its interventions are helping to ease pressure on the cedi and strengthen confidence in the foreign exchange market.
As part of its October 2026 programme, the Board plans to supply US$1 billion to authorised commercial banks and an additional US$500 million to the Bank of Ghana for reserve accumulation.
The move is expected to further boost forex availability, support import cover, and sustain the current momentum of cedi stability.
This follows a reported US$130 million spot FX sale at GHยข11.60 per dollar, a transaction that analysts say reinforced GoldBod’s commitment to foreign exchange market stability.
The Board maintains that its strategy remains aligned with Ghana’s broader economic recovery agenda, ensuring that proceeds from gold are directly used to support the local currency and build the country’s external buffers.
