Two suspects arrested over 11-year-old girl’s murder at Buduburam

The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the alleged murder of an 11-year-old girl, Blessing Innocent, at Gomoa Buduburam in the Central Region.

The suspects have been identified as Kingsley Ozor, 40, an autobody sprayer, and his 19-year-old apprentice, Jeffery Otaigbe. The alleged incident occurred on Saturday, October 17, 2026.

According to a police statement issued on Wednesday, October 21, the investigation began after the victim’s mother reported her missing to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Gomoa Buduburam District Police on Monday, October 19.

The mother told the police that her daughter had been missing since Saturday, October 17.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the girl had visited the two suspects, who are their neighbours, at about 8:30 a.m. on the day she went missing. That visit was reportedly the last time she was seen.

The police subsequently arrested the suspects on Tuesday, October 20. During interrogation, both men reportedly admitted that the girl had been with them on the day she disappeared.

Further investigations, according to the police, revealed that Otaigbe allegedly lured the girl into an uncompleted building near an estate community, where he sexually abused her before realising that she was no longer alive.

The statement said the suspect subsequently led investigators to a location where the girl’s body had been concealed beneath some shrubs.

The police recovered the body and conveyed it to the morgue at St. Gregory Catholic Hospital. Arrangements are being made for an autopsy at the Police Hospital to determine the circumstances surrounding her death.

Both suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue.

The Central East Regional Police Command commended the Gomoa Buduburam District Police for apprehending the suspects and assured the public that crimes of this nature would be dealt with swiftly to ensure that those responsible face the full rigours of the law.
