“They will use police and lawyers to search for me” –Efo on Villagio call after viral building Video

According to a report by Ghanaweb on Thursday, Oct 22, 2026, Efo Kodjo, a Ghanaian social media personality, says he is being threatened by netizens and by people linked to the management of Villagio over a video he posted of part of a high-rise building collapsing in Accra.

The footage, shared on October 21, 2026, shows large concrete blocks falling from the upper section of a structure under construction near the Villagio Hotel at Airport Residential Area. Loud noises can be heard moments before the debris comes down, and onlookers run for safety. GhanaWeb TV, which carried the video, reported that strong winds ahead of that afternoon’s rainfall caused sections of the building to break off from the top.

After the video drew wide attention, Mr Kodjo went to X to say he had come under pressure. He claims he received a call from someone who said they were phoning from Villagio and who told him to report to the company’s office.

In his post, he said the caller warned that if he did not comply, the company would “use police and lawyers to search for me.”

Mr Kodjo did not name the caller, and the identity of the person has not been established. The report carries no response from Villagio on the allegation, and it is unclear whether the call came from anyone authorised to speak for the company.

The claim has added a second storyline to an incident that was already drawing public concern. The footage of the falling blocks prompted questions online about safety at construction sites, particularly on high-rise projects in busy parts of the capital. Mr Kodjo’s account now raises a further question about how the company is dealing with the person who recorded the video.

For now, the matter rests on Mr Kodjo’s own account. Villagio has yet to say publicly whether it contacted him, what it wanted from him, or whether it intends to take any action over the video.
