Reba McEntire’s welcomes adorable new family member after long-awaited arrival

LEAVE A COMMENT Reba McEntire is a grandmother again, after her son, Shelby Blackstock, welcomed a baby boy with his wife, Marissa. The couple took to Instagram on Wednesday to share the happy news of his arrival, with Shelby writing: "After everything it took to get here, we finally get to call ourselves Mom and Dad."

"We've been taking these first few weeks just for us, and there's nowhere else we'd rather be," he continued.

The 36-year-old then shared a photo of himself holding his newborn in the hospital with a wide smile on his face. The third shot featured a clip of their son sleeping under a blue light, with the caption: "He had a rough first week, but at least he had the look down."

Marissa revealed that they had named their baby Shelby Archer McEntire Blackstock, and had given him the nickname "Archie" to help differentiate from his father.

The duo announced they were expecting back in April, after entering a second round of IVF treatments. "Oh, BOY! We're beyond excited to FINALLY announce our little man is coming in October. See ya real soon, pal! Mommy + Daddy love you!" they wrote on social media.

Shelby and Marissa heartbreakingly lost a baby in December, and opened up about the experience in a candid Instagram post.

"I've carried more loss this year than I ever imagined I could. First my brother-in-law, then my dad… and now our little boy," Marissa wrote.

"Grief has a way of reshaping your world, and I've learned that to survive it, you have to search for even the faintest glimmer of meaning – the small silver thread that helps your heart keep going."

"Our little boy was that for me," she continued. "He arrived the day after my dad passed, two pink lines on Thanksgiving morning… something I had never seen before in three long years of trying."

"And though he began to slip away in the days that followed, and today confirmed what we already knew… he still gave us something precious. He showed me that my body can do this. That hope isn't gone."

Shelby, who tied the knot with Marissa in 2022, is Reba's only biological child, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Narvel Blackstock. The pair split in 2015 after 26 years of marriage, yet Reba remained close to his children and claimed them as her own.

The country superstar previously shared with Pop Culture that she struggled to find the time to see her grandchildren, including Kelly Clarkson's kids, River and Remington, whom she welcomed with the late Brandon Blackstock.

"I'm an invisible grandparent," Reba said. "Everybody is just going so fast… I never see any of them. So I guess I'll see them around Thanksgiving and Christmas again like I did last year."

"I'm not a spoiling grandma," she added. "Nope. I probably would if I saw them more often, but since I'm not, no I don't." Brandon, who split from Kelly in 2020 after almost seven years of marriage, passed away in August 2025 following a battle with melanoma.
