Nova radio host Chrissie Swan hospitalised for a medical emergency

Chrissie Swan has revealed she was recently hospitalised for an undisclosed medical emergency which forced her off the air from her Nova FM show a couple of months ago.
The radio personality, 53, addressed the ordeal in an Instagram clip on Thursday to explain her absence.
‘Hello, I have received so many messages from you guys saying, “Where are you and when are you coming back to the radio?” The truth is, I don’t know,’ Chrissie began.
‘A couple of months ago I had a medical emergency. Completely unplanned, as emergencies are, and was in hospital for ages. That was weird for me because I have only ever been to hospital to have babies, which was good news. This certainly wasn’t.’
She then provided fans with an update about her current condition and what the future might hold.
‘I’m still resting at home. Lots of sleep, reading, sorting out the spice drawers. Today I feel the best I’ve felt in weeks, months,’ she said.
‘So, I thought I would come on here and say, “Thank you so much for your messages. As soon as I’m better, I will be back.”‘
‘Sorry to cause so much concern – it was a worry for me too. But Iām heading in the right direction.’
Many of Chrissie’s radio friends took to the comments section to share their well wishes.
‘Miss your face, we are all missing you around the office. My toasties aren’t as good as yours xoxo,’ wrote fellow Nova presenter Joel Creasey.
‘So good to see. We’ve got you buddy! Sending love,’ added veteran presenter Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli.
The Masked Singer judge has been open about her health, previously touching on her weight loss in an interview with The Australian Women’s Weekly in 2022. She confirmed that Melbourne’s lengthy Covid lockdowns were the catalyst for her health and fitness kick.
She said the ‘enormous’ lifestyle changes she’d made during that time had significantly improved her well-being.
‘We couldn’t go out to dinner, we couldn’t go to a friend’s house, they couldn’t come to us, we couldn’t go outside five kilometres,’ she said. ‘All we could do was walk… so that’s what I did.’
In another interview with The Herald Sun, Chrissie said she was constantly working on her health.
‘It is actually great. I don’t think you can feel that way until you have done the years,’ she said.
Speaking to The Imperfects podcast, Chrissie raved about how walking had improved her life.
‘I was 45 and I went, “I reckon I’m halfway to dying”,’ she said.
‘Am I happy with this going on? Am I happy with who I am with other people, am I happy with who I am for me? What do I want to change? And then I started to walk, and I get emotional thinking about it because walking has absolutely changed my life.’
