Nkechi Blessing defends 44 Clothing CEO Evelyn Cute after missing scare

Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing has defended the chief executive officer of 44 Clothing, Onyema Evelyn, popularly known as Evelyn Cute, following her disappearance and safe return.

Reports emerged on Wednesday that the fashion entrepreneur had gone missing after a disagreement with her boyfriend, prompting concern among her friends and family.

Human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu raised the alarm over her disappearance, appealing to members of the public to help locate her.

Gwamnishu later confirmed that Evelyn had been found alive and had returned home safely.

Reacting to the incident, Nkechi urged Nigerians to stop judging Evelyn, saying people were quick to criticise others without knowing what they had experienced in their relationships.

The actress said love could push people to do things they might not ordinarily consider, adding that she had also made decisions because of love that could attract criticism if made public.

She wrote, “The closest thing to madness na love. If I tell Una wetin I don do because of love, una go gather hand beat me. You all should cut Evelyn some slack, please. Na still Una use Una winch eye scatter the relationship, cus Una dey wait to hear bad news so bad.

“@evelyncute thank God you are safe, but I go still beat craze comot your head if I see you sha.

“No be small panic attack you give me.”

The disappearance had generated reactions on social media, with many expressing concern about Evelyn’s safety.

Gwamnishu had appealed for information about her whereabouts after she was reportedly last seen around Bonny Camp in Lagos. He also addressed speculation surrounding an unidentified female body reportedly found in a Lagos waterway, clarifying that it had not been identified as Evelyn.

Following her return, Gwamnishu said Evelyn’s brother and a friend confirmed during a video call that she was safe. He added that she would explain the circumstances surrounding her disappearance to the police.
