NDC observes moment of silence in honor of Kwame Dzokoto

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has observed a moment of silence in honour of actor, broadcaster and former parliamentary candidate Seth Kwame Dzokoto, following his death on Thursday, October 22, 2026.

The party’s General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, called on members to rise and observe the moment in tribute to the late entertainer and party comrade.

“Rise and observe a moment of silence to a comrade of ours. May his soul rest in peace and his memory be a blessing,” Mr Kwetey said.

Dzokoto, widely known for his role as Judge Koboo in the television series Efiewura and as host of TV3’s food programme Edziban, was an active member of the NDC who ventured into partisan politics ahead of the 2016 general elections.

In November 2015, he won the party’s parliamentary primary for the Tarkwa-Nsuaem constituency, polling 1,415 votes to defeat his sole contender, Joseph Otchere, who obtained 398 votes. He subsequently contested the 2016 parliamentary election but lost to the New Patriotic Party’s George Mireku Duker.

Despite his defeat, Dzokoto remained involved in the party’s activities and contributed to the development of its policies for the tourism, arts and culture sector.

He also pursued further education, obtaining a Bachelor of Laws degree and graduating in 2025 with a Master of Science in Defence and International Politics from the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College.

Dzokoto died after collapsing during a radio discussion on Owass Radio in Tarkwa. He was reportedly rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. His death was confirmed by the NDC’s Western Regional Communication Officer, Kirk Mensah.

His career spanned entertainment, broadcasting and politics, earning him recognition both as a familiar face on Ghanaian television and as a member of the NDC’s political community.
