Miguel Embraces the Confrontation Between Frosler and Leaner
October 22, 2026 sportnow Kaizer Chiefs defender Inacio Miguel expresses his support for the passionate exchange between colleagues Reeve Frosler and Renaldo Leaner after last weekend’s defeat to the Zambian team Red Arrows in the CAF Confederation Cup, viewing it as a positive indication of their frustration and commitment. Tensions rose between goalkeeper Leaner and defender Frosler right after the final whistle in the preliminary round first leg match in Lusaka, prompting Bruce Bvuma and Rushwin Dortley to intervene and calm the situation.

Alassane Diarra netted the lone goal of the match, giving Red Arrows a 1-0 advantage heading into Friday’s crucial second leg at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
The Chiefs need to win by at least two goals—a scoreline of 2-0 or 3-1—to reverse the deficit and move on to the Confederation Cup group stage.
“I witnessed the incident, and everyone else did too. Personally, I appreciate these kinds of displays. We felt the defeat,” commented Miguel.
“Our fans suffer just like us; we share in the disappointment and frustration over the results. Unfortunately, what transpired on the pitch is part of the game. It’s not a team issue, just a clash of opinions.
Miguel dismissed suggestions that the altercation on the field indicated any discord within the dressing room.
“From the images and videos, it may seem like chaos, but it was merely a difference of opinion. There’s no concern,” Miguel stated.
“In my view, such actions are a sign of positive energy and passion, something we sometimes lack. We need to be more aggressive and passionate about our results. Losing a game like this is tough, and I was pleased to see that incident, to be honest.
“The lads are frustrated, and we have an opportunity on Friday to rectify that.”
The Chiefs have faced challenges with consistency lately and are heading into Friday’s match on a four-game winless streak. Miguel is hopeful that the team can transform its frustration into a strong performance to overcome the first-leg deficit and keep its Confederation Cup hopes alive.
