Mamelodi Sundowns Handed Unbelievable Demands Ahead of Super Cup Final

Mamelodi Sundowns Handed Major Hosting Responsibilities Ahead of CAF Super Cup Showdown Against USM Alger

Mamelodi Sundowns face significant organisational responsibilities as preparations intensify for their CAF Super Cup encounter against Algerian giants USM Alger, scheduled for Sunday, 8 November 2026, at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria.

The eagerly awaited continental clash will see the winners of Africa’s two leading club tournaments battle for another prestigious title. Sundowns earned their spot after lifting the 2025/26 CAF Champions League trophy, while USM Alger secured qualification by winning the CAF Confederation Cup.

With Pretoria set to host the encounter, Sundowns will be responsible for ensuring that several important logistical and administrative requirements are met before the match.

According to the competition’s hosting guidelines, the South African champions must work closely with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to guarantee that all arrangements are completed successfully.

One of the club’s primary obligations will be to make Loftus Versfeld Stadium and its facilities available to CAF at least three days before the final. This will allow the continental football governing body sufficient time to conduct inspections, coordinate operations and finalise preparations.

Sundowns must also provide two appropriate training facilities with playing surfaces similar to the match venue. One of these grounds will be reserved for USM Alger to ensure the Algerian side has suitable conditions for its final preparations.

Accommodation and Transport Among Sundowns’ Key Duties

Beyond stadium arrangements, Sundowns will also oversee accommodation and transportation for several individuals involved in the competition.

The Pretoria-based outfit is expected to secure accommodation for approximately 18 CAF representatives, including match officials, video assistant referee personnel and other technical staff.

Additionally, the club must arrange transportation for at least 50 members of the visiting Algerian delegation. A separate vehicle will also be provided for USM Alger’s head of delegation.

Security arrangements will form another essential part of the preparations. Sundowns will collaborate with the South African Football Association (SAFA) to develop a detailed security plan covering the match venue and surrounding areas.

The proposed security measures, including information about personnel assigned to the event, must be submitted to CAF for assessment and approval.

USM Alger Supporters to Receive Ticket Allocation

Visiting supporters will also be accommodated during the continental encounter, with USM Alger entitled to five per cent of Loftus Versfeld Stadium’s seating capacity.

The Algerian club’s supporters are expected to occupy a designated section on the eastern side of the stadium, allowing them to support their team during the highly anticipated final.

Meanwhile, Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso and his technical staff will concentrate on ensuring that the players are fully prepared for the challenge ahead.

Despite enjoying home advantage, the South African champions are expected to face a difficult contest against a determined USM Alger side eager to claim another continental trophy.

Cardoso will be hoping his players can deliver a convincing performance and make the most of playing in familiar surroundings.

Sundowns Face Important Test On and Off the Pitch

With the CAF Super Cup final drawing closer, Mamelodi Sundowns must balance their extensive hosting responsibilities with preparations for the match itself.

Successfully organising the event will require close cooperation between the club, CAF, SAFA and other relevant stakeholders.

On the field, Sundowns will aim to strengthen their reputation as one of Africa’s leading football clubs by adding another continental honour to their trophy cabinet.

The November 8 showdown promises to be a major occasion for South African football, with two continental champions preparing to compete for CAF Super Cup glory at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
