Kenya Power to Switch Off Electricity in Several Areas on Friday: Check the Full List
Residents and businesses in selected parts of Kenya are set to experience electricity interruptions on Friday, October 23, after Kenya Power announced planned maintenance works across several areas.
The utility company said the scheduled interruptions are necessary to facilitate maintenance and upgrades to the electricity distribution network.
Customers in the affected areas have been advised to make appropriate arrangements before the power supply is switched off.
According to the notice, most of the interruptions will take place between 9am and 5pm, although some areas will have slightly different schedules.
In Nairobi, customers in parts of Argwings Kodhek are expected to experience an interruption from 9am to 5pm.
The affected locations include parts of Argwings Kodhek Road, Ralph Bunche Road, Nairobi Hospital, Hurlingham Shopping Centre, Woodlands Road, Lee Funeral Home, Upperhill Medical Centre and sections of Ngong Avenue.
Other affected Nairobi areas include Githurai, where the interruption will cover Githurai 45, Mt Kenya, Siloam, PEFA, Progressive, Kimbo, Claycity and Farmers Choice Kasarani.
Parts of Pangani, including Forest Road, Chai Road and Pamba Road, are also scheduled to be without electricity during the maintenance period.
In Nyeri County, Kenya Power has listed areas including Endarasha, Charity and Watuka, as well as Gachatha and Kariguini.
The scheduled interruption in these areas is expected to run from 9am to 5pm.
The notice also includes Koisolik, Kimong and Sarora in the North Rift region, while customers around Obware, Ojawa and surrounding areas in South Nyanza will also be affected.
In Western Kenya, residents around Musanda Market, including Lureko, Matawa, Imanga, Buhuru, Lukongo and Bungatsi, are expected to experience an interruption from 8:30am to 5pm.
The planned outages are part of Kenya Power’s ongoing efforts to maintain and improve the electricity network.
The company has previously explained that temporary interruptions are sometimes required to allow engineers to safely carry out maintenance, upgrade infrastructure and undertake other works.
Customers in the affected locations have therefore been urged to plan ahead, particularly households, businesses, schools and other institutions that rely heavily on electricity.
The Friday interruptions are expected to be restored after the scheduled maintenance works are completed, although restoration times may vary depending on the nature of the work being undertaken.
