Just Hours After His Sacking, Mosiria Alleges What Sakaja Has Been Doing to Him Since 2023

Former Nairobi County Chief Officer Geoffrey Mosiria has revealed details of his alleged disagreements with Governor Johnson Sakaja, claiming their relationship began deteriorating in 2023 after he refused to approve certain procurement deals.

Mosiria made the claims on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, hours after the county government announced a reshuffle that removed him from his position in charge of Public Participation, Citizen Engagement and Customer Service.

In his statement, Mosiria thanked Sakaja for formally confirming his removal but claimed he had lost his authority as an accounting officer nearly three years earlier.

He alleged that on December 28, 2023, Sakaja stripped him of his accounting responsibilities and reassigned them to junior officers through a memo.

According to Mosiria, the dispute began when he declined to approve direct procurement arrangements that he believed could benefit individuals associated with the governor and his contractors. He further claimed that his budget while serving in the Health Department was reduced from KSh 1.2 billion to KSh 100 million.

Mosiria said he was subsequently transferred to the Environment Department, where he claimed his responsibilities were limited because the department’s director reported directly to Sakaja.

He explained that he opted to participate in street operations rather than remain inactive in his office, despite such duties typically being handled by junior officers.

The former chief officer also recalled facing public criticism, attacks in official WhatsApp groups and a court case that he said nearly resulted in a six-month jail term over contempt of court.

Mosiria said he was later moved to the citizen engagement department, but claimed his concerns remained unresolved. He alleged that Sakaja rarely answered his calls or responded to his messages.

He also disclosed that he had received information about an alleged plan to implicate him in a criminal case and have him imprisoned, although he did not identify the people he suspected of being involved.

Meanwhile, the county government appointed Zipporah Njeri Mwangi to take over Mosiria’s citizen engagement duties while retaining her existing responsibilities.

The changes took effect immediately. However, the county government’s official announcement did not provide reasons for Mosiria’s removal, and the allegations he raised against Sakaja were not addressed in the announcement.
