I’m One of the World’s Best Strikers – S/Eagles Star Boldly Said After Helping Club to First UCL Win
According to a post on Le Marca Sports official X account on Wednesday October 21, 2026, Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has boldly said that he is one of the best strikers in the world after helping Galatasaray secure their first victory of the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League campaign with a 4-2 win over Lille on Wednesday.
The Nigerian international scored the fourth goal as Galatasaray came from behind to defeat his former club at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy in France.
Osimhen, who previously played for Lille during the 2019/20 season, showed his quality with a clinical finish in the 61st minute to give the Turkish champions a two-goal cushion.
He chose not to celebrate the goal out of respect for his former club.
Speaking after the match, the 27-year-old dismissed suggestions that he was under pressure, insisting that he remained focused on delivering his best performances for both himself and his team.
“I’m not tense. This applies not only to me but to many players as well. I’m trying to do the very best I can,” Osimhen said.
“Most of the time, the match doesn’t go the way I want it to, not just for me but for the team as well. However, that doesn’t mean I’m tense.”
The Super Eagles forward also expressed confidence in his abilities, explaining that criticism and outside opinions would not distract him from his objectives.
“I come from a place where I’m not afraid, I don’t fear difficulties. No one can tell me how to sprint, how to play, how to score goals—I already do these things, and that’s why I’m one of the world’s best strikers.”
“They don’t really know me, nothing they say affects me. They want to drag me into that, but I’ve approached all the talk with indifference. I have other things to deal with, I’m not bothering with these,” he added.
Galatasaray made a bright start against Lille, with Yunus Akgün opening the scoring in the second minute.
However, the French side responded through Soriba Diaoune, who scored twice, while Aleksey Batrakov added another goal to make it 2-2 before half-time.
Lucas Torreira restored Galatasaray’s lead in the 52nd minute before Osimhen struck nine minutes later to seal the victory.
The result gave Galatasaray their first points of the Champions League campaign after defeats in their opening two matches.
