Doctor Khumalo Returns to Naturena After Landing SAFA Technical Committee Role

Kaizer Chiefs legend Doctor Khumalo has returned to the club’s Naturena headquarters to meet chairman Dr Kaizer Motaung after being appointed to a new role in South African football administration.

Khumalo, one of the most celebrated figures in Amakhosi’s history, went to see the chairman to ask for his blessings after being named vice-chairman of the South African Football Association’s (SAFA) Technical Committee. The visit shows the lasting bond between the former Bafana Bafana midfielder and the club that helped build his name in the game.

Known to many as 16V, Khumalo remains one of the most recognisable names linked to Kaizer Chiefs. His skill, creativity and contribution to South African football have earned him the admiration of generations of supporters. His new appointment gives him a chance to help shape the country’s football structures away from the pitch.

As vice-chairman of the Technical Committee, Khumalo will be involved in discussions and plans about the technical direction and development of football in South Africa. The exact details of his duties will depend on what the committee is mandated to do, but the post places him in an important position within the country’s football administration.

The meeting at Naturena also carries a symbolic meaning. It reflects the respect Khumalo still has for Motaung, who founded Kaizer Chiefs and helped grow it into one of the most prominent clubs in the country. For many Amakhosi fans, Khumalo is more than a former player. He is part of the club’s history and built his reputation through his performances and long association with the Soweto giants.

As South African football works to improve its structures and develop young talent, his experience could prove useful in the new role. His return to Naturena was more than a casual visit. It brought together one of Chiefs’ best-known legends and the chairman who played a major part in his career, as Khumalo begins a new chapter in the game.

Two points to check before you publish. The original does not say when the meeting took place or who reported it, so you may want to add the date and name the source. Please also confirm the appointment as vice-chairman of the SAFA Technical Committee against an official SAFA statement.
