CAF DROPS MASSIVE BOMBSHELL: Mamelodi Sundowns Handed Unbelievable Demands Ahead of Super Cup Final
Mamelodi Sundowns have been assigned key organisational duties ahead of their CAF Super Cup clash against Algerian side USM Alger, with Pretoria preparing to host the continental showdown on Sunday, 8 November 2026, at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
The highly anticipated final will bring together the champions of Africaâs two major club competitions. Sundowns secured their place after winning the 2025/26 CAF Champions League, while USM Alger qualified by claiming the CAF Confederation Cup title. The encounter will provide both teams with an opportunity to add another prestigious trophy to their collections.
As the host club, Sundowns are expected to work closely with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to ensure that all necessary arrangements are completed before the final. According to reports outlining the competitionâs organisational requirements, the South African champions must make Loftus Versfeld Stadium and its facilities available to CAF three days before the match to allow preparations and operational coordination.
The club must also provide two suitable training grounds with playing conditions comparable to those of the final venue. One of the facilities will be allocated to USM Alger, giving the visiting team an appropriate environment to prepare for the important encounter.
Accommodation and transportation will also fall under Sundownsâ responsibilities. The club is expected to arrange lodging for approximately 18 CAF officials, including referees, video assistant referee personnel and technical staff. Furthermore, transport must be organised for at least 50 members of the Algerian delegation, alongside a dedicated vehicle for the clubâs head of delegation.
Security planning will be another major priority. Sundowns and the South African Football Association must submit comprehensive security arrangements, including information about the personnel assigned to the event, for CAFâs review and approval.
Ticket distribution will also accommodate travelling supporters, with USM Alger expected to receive five per cent of the stadiumâs total capacity. Their allocated seating will be located on the eastern side of the venue.
While these administrative duties require considerable attention, Sundownsâ technical team, led by head coach Miguel Cardoso, will remain focused on preparing the squad for the contest. The Pretoria-based club will face determined opposition from USM Alger, who will arrive hoping to defeat the South African champions and secure continental honours.
With the November 8 final approaching, Sundowns must successfully coordinate their hosting obligations while maintaining their competitive focus. The match is expected to be a significant occasion for South African football, bringing two African champions together in a contest for one of the continentâs most coveted club trophies.
