Broda Shaggi Shares Story Of Stray Bullet Injury In ‘Second Chance’

Nigerian comedian Broda Shaggi recounts his March 2026 stray bullet injury, surgeries and ongoing recovery in a YouTube video released Wednesday.

Nigerian comedian, actor and performer Broda Shaggi has recounted how a stray bullet struck his hip in March 2026, leaving him unable to perform and requiring multiple surgeries, in a video titled Second Chance (The Story) released on Wednesday, October 21.

In the video, Shaggi, whose real name is Samuel Perry, described the incident, his experience in hospital, the emotional toll of being unable to work and his treatment in Dubai. He said he is yet to fully recover but can now stand independently and walk with the support of crutches.

Shaggi said the shooting occurred after he and his team had completed a brand activation and were leaving the venue in a bus on an expressway. He recalled hearing a loud bang before noticing blood around his hip.

“That was when it dawned on me that I had been hit by a stray bullet,” he said.

He was initially taken to a hospital where first aid was administered before being transferred to another facility for further treatment because the first hospital lacked the equipment needed to manage his injury.

The comedian said he feared for his life during the journey to the hospital and later worried that the injury could affect his ability to dance, act and make music.

“I grew up dancing with my dad, I grew up singing, playing drums,” he said, explaining his fears about how the injury could affect his career.

Shaggi also spoke about the emotional challenges of spending months away from the activities that had defined his life. He said he sometimes cried while watching videos of colleagues performing, uncertain whether he would regain the ability to do the same.

He added that he continued writing content and developing a YouTube series while in hospital, partly because he knew his audience had missed his work.

According to the account shared in the video, Shaggi underwent an initial surgery in Nigeria, but further treatment was delayed because his medical markers had not stabilised. After about four months, he and his team decided to seek additional medical care in Dubai.

In Dubai, he was examined by surgeon Dr Anil Kumar Chinta, who agreed to proceed with surgery despite the concerns previously raised about his medical markers.

Dr Chinta said Shaggi was able to stand with support on the second day after surgery and walk with crutches on the third day. He also praised the comedian’s strength and determination during rehabilitation.

The surgeon expressed confidence that Shaggi could return to his normal routine as soon as possible, while acknowledging the progress he had made during recovery.

Reflecting on the incident, Shaggi said he remained grateful to be alive, noting that the bullet could have struck a more vulnerable part of his body.

He explained that although he can now stand without crutches, he still relies on them for support and has not fully recovered.

Describing the experience as a new beginning, the entertainer said he was preparing to return to work with new projects that had been delayed by his recovery.

Shaggi had previously announced plans to share the story of the incident, describing March 9, 2026, as a day he wished had never happened. The release of Second Chance (The Story) provides his account of the shooting and the months of treatment and rehabilitation that followed.
