The comedian shared his ordeal in an emotional mini-documentary titled Second Chance (The Story), released on his YouTube channel on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, after months of speculation about his sudden disappearance from the public eye.

Recounting the incident, which occurred on March 9, 2026, Shaggi described the day as one he wished had never happened.

According to him, the incident occurred after he and his team had completed a brand activation and were leaving the area. While they were caught in traffic, he suddenly heard a loud bang.

He said everything appeared to go silent, despite being able to see people moving and talking around him. It was when he touched his hip and noticed blood that he realised he had been shot.

Shaggi recalled being overwhelmed by fear as he struggled to understand what had happened, with thoughts of death running through his mind.

He said his immediate concern was to survive, adding that he was eventually taken to a hospital for emergency treatment.

Broda Shaggi undergoes surgeries after shooting

The comedian disclosed that the gunshot injury left him unable to move his leg properly, raising fears about whether he would ever return to the physical demands of his career.

Shaggi explained that he underwent surgery in Nigeria but continued to experience difficulties with his injured leg, prompting him to travel to Dubai for further medical treatment.

He described the recovery process as physically painful and emotionally challenging, particularly because acting, dancing, singing and creating comedy content had become central to his life.

The entertainer said there were moments when he questioned God over the painful experience, struggling to understand why such a traumatic incident had happened to him.

However, he later found comfort in the possibility that the forced break might have been an opportunity to rest after years of relentless work.

Shaggi explained that since 2018, he had maintained a demanding schedule involving writing, shooting skits, making music and travelling for engagements, leaving little room for rest.

‘I felt useless’ — Comedian speaks on career uncertainty

Beyond the physical pain, Shaggi revealed that his inability to perform the activities he loved took a significant emotional toll on him.

He said watching videos of fellow entertainers working and enjoying their careers sometimes made him laugh but also brought him to tears because he was uncertain whether he would ever be able to do the same things again.

The comedian admitted that being unable to act, dance or sing made him feel helpless, as he struggled to come to terms with the possibility that the injury could permanently change his life.

Despite the challenges, he continued writing content and developing projects for his YouTube channel, hoping to reconnect with fans who had missed him during his absence.

Broda Shaggi expresses gratitude over survival

Despite the frightening experience, the entertainer expressed gratitude to God for surviving the incident, acknowledging that the outcome could have been much worse.

He disclosed that he had gradually regained some mobility and could now stand and walk without crutches, although he still required them for support during his recovery.

Shaggi described his survival as a second chance at life and assured fans that he was preparing to return with new projects he had been unable to complete during his months away.

He urged his supporters to celebrate his return rather than feel sorry for him, promising to resume his creative work and reconnect with audiences.

The documentary offers a deeply personal account of the challenges behind the comedian’s absence, revealing a side of the entertainer rarely seen by fans who know him primarily for his energetic performances and humorous skits.
