Bad News for Ruto as Ndindi Nyoro Says What Will Happen Even If All Presidential Candidates Vie

Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has declared that President William Ruto will leave office after the 2027 General Election, insisting that the opposition should not fear having multiple presidential candidates in the race.

Nyoro made the remarks amid growing political realignments as opposition leaders continue to position themselves ahead of the next election.

“William Ruto is going home, even if all of us opposition presidential aspirants run for the presidency,” Nyoro said.

His statement comes as questions continue to emerge over whether opposition leaders will agree to support a single presidential candidate or allow several aspirants to contest for the country’s top seat.

Nyoro, who leads the People’s Party of Kenya (PPK), has been increasingly vocal about the need to challenge Ruto’s administration. He previously campaigned for the Kenya Kwanza government during the 2022 elections before breaking ranks with the ruling party.

In August, Nyoro launched a countrywide political tour to popularise his party and rally support for the opposition’s efforts to unseat the President. He said his focus was on strengthening the opposition and expanding its political reach beyond his Mount Kenya backyard.

His latest remarks could add to the debate about the opposition’s strategy, particularly as several prominent figures consider their own presidential ambitions.

Among the leaders involved in opposition discussions are former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Jubilee’s Fred Matiang’i, People’s Liberation Party leader Martha Karua and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.

The leaders have publicly called for political change, although questions remain about how they will settle on a common candidate ahead of the election.

Nyoro’s position suggests that he believes the opposition can still challenge Ruto even if its presidential hopefuls do not immediately unite behind one candidate.

However, the question of whether multiple candidates could divide opposition votes remains central to discussions about the 2027 contest.

As political campaigns gather momentum, Nyoro and other opposition leaders will face pressure to explain how their individual ambitions fit into a broader strategy.

For now, Nyoro has maintained that removing Ruto from office remains the central objective of the opposition, even as competition for the presidential ticket continues.
