Archbishop Agyinasare’s Son Receives Top Appointment From Mahama’s Government

The government of President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Dr. Selassie Agyinasare, the son of renowned preacher Archbishop Charles Agyinasare, to the newly inaugurated Board of the National Communications Authority.

The announcement was made during a ceremony at the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations in Accra on Friday, October 10, 2025.

The Board, led by its chairperson, Madam Mavis Ampah, will provide leadership and oversight for the National Communications Authority (NCA), the institution responsible for regulating telecommunications and internet services in Ghana. Its work also includes supporting innovation and development within the country’s communications industry.

Dr. Agyinasare’s selection has drawn attention because he combines a connection to a prominent religious family with an academic and professional background in technology and leadership. His father, Archbishop Charles Agyinasare, founded Perez Chapel International.

The appointment has been welcomed by some observers as a sign that younger professionals with relevant expertise are being considered for roles in national development.

At the inauguration, Samuel Nartey George, the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, urged the newly appointed Board members to improve the authority’s performance and encourage innovation across the sector.

The minister emphasised the importance of better internet services, efficient management of the telecommunications spectrum and policies that would help Ghana make further progress in the digital economy.

In response, Dr. Selassie Agyinasare thanked the government for the opportunity and promised to apply his skills and experience to support the development of Ghana’s communications industry.

His appointment is expected to contribute to efforts to combine established expertise with fresh perspectives as the country continues to expand its digital infrastructure and services.

With the NCA approaching its 30th anniversary next year, the new Board faces the task of helping shape the authority’s priorities and supporting further progress in telecommunications and digital transformation.
