APC: 8 Lawmakers Who Met Tinubu After Resigning Get Car Gifts
Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle has provided vehicles to eight members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly who recently returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The vehicles were presented in Gusau on Wednesday, October 21, by Yazid Danfulani, Managing Director of the Nigeria Agricultural Insurance Corporation, who represented the minister at the event.
Danfulani explained that the donation was part of Matawalleâs efforts to promote reconciliation, strengthen party unity and improve cooperation among APC members in Zamfara State.
He added that the minister had continued engaging party stakeholders to resolve disagreements and strengthen the partyâs political structure across the state.
According to a report by The Punch, the vehicles were intended to make transportation easier for the lawmakers as they returned to their constituencies and resumed grassroots mobilisation activities.
The donation followed reports that President Bola Tinubu had urged the lawmakers to return to Zamfara State and contribute to rebuilding the APCâs internal structure ahead of the 2027 elections.
Matawalle, who governed Zamfara State between 2019 and 2023, was reportedly involved in presenting the lawmakers to the President after they renewed their commitment to Tinubu and the ruling party.
Speaking on behalf of the lawmakers, Aliyu Kagara expressed appreciation to Matawalle for providing the vehicles. He also reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Tinubuâs bid for another term in office in 2027.
The Northern Elders of the APC Forum also praised Tinubu and Matawalle for their contributions to bringing the eight lawmakers back into the party.
The forumâs chairman, Alhaji Yusuf Abubakar, described the development as an important step towards resolving internal disputes and restoring unity among APC members in Zamfara State.
However, the group stressed that the return of the eight lawmakers should not mark the end of reconciliation efforts.
It called on the partyâs leadership to continue engaging dissatisfied members, address their concerns and prevent further divisions within its ranks.
Matawalle lost his re-election bid in 2023 to Dauda Lawal of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before subsequently being appointed Minister of State for Defence.
Since joining the federal government, the former governor has remained an influential APC figure in Zamfara, with efforts to strengthen the partyâs political support base becoming increasingly significant as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
