“An Igbo Man Cannot Be Nigeria’s President”- Market Woman Declares Support For Tinubu

A market woman has sparked reactions after expressing her views on Nigeria’s presidency and declaring her support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to complete his eight-year tenure.

In a statement making the rounds, the woman, who identified herself as being from Delta State, argued that Tinubu should be allowed to serve two terms, just as his predecessor, former President Muhammadu Buhari, did.

According to her, she does not believe an Igbo person should become Nigeria’s president, describing the ethnic group as “betrayers.”

“I’m from Delta State, and I’m supporting Tinubu to complete his eight years. Buhari completed his eight years, so Tinubu should be allowed to do the same. Besides, Tinubu is not the one who scattered the country,” she said.

Her comments have drawn attention because of the ethnic generalisation in her remarks and the ongoing conversations surrounding political representation, national unity and the 2027 presidential election.
