African Stars Chairperson Salomo Hei Confident Of Overturning 1-0 Deficit Against Orlando Pirates

African Stars chairperson Salomo Hei remains optimistic about his team’s chances of eliminating Orlando Pirates from the CAF Champions League, despite trailing the South African side 1-0 on aggregate ahead of Friday’s second preliminary round return leg.

The Namibian champions face a difficult assignment as they attempt to overturn the first-leg result and secure a place in the next stage of the continental competition. However, Hei believes the tie is far from decided and that his team still has a genuine opportunity to progress.c

Orlando Pirates claimed a narrow victory in the opening encounter, giving the Buccaneers an advantage before the decisive meeting. Nevertheless, the one-goal difference leaves African Stars with a realistic chance of changing the outcome if they produce a strong performance in the return fixture.

Hei’s confidence reflects his club’s determination to remain competitive against one of South Africa’s established football sides. African Stars understand the importance of the match and will be eager to show that they can challenge stronger opponents on the continental stage.

To achieve their objective, the Namibian outfit will need to combine attacking intent with tactical discipline. An early goal could boost the players’ confidence and place additional pressure on Pirates, although maintaining defensive concentration will also be crucial throughout the encounter.

Orlando Pirates, meanwhile, will be determined to defend their advantage and avoid allowing their opponents to gain momentum. The Soweto giants have experience competing in African tournaments, and their ability to control possession, remain organised at the back and take advantage of counterattacking opportunities could influence the result.

The Buccaneers must also guard against complacency, as a narrow first-leg victory offers limited protection if their opponents find an equaliser. Any defensive errors could give African Stars the encouragement needed to challenge for qualification.
