Abronye DC: Give Ghana Gold To Ibrahim Mahama, Not Foreigners – Outdid Newmont’s 22 Years In Months

In a shocking U-turn that has set Ghana talking, NPP firebrand Abronye DC has praised businessman Ibrahim Mahama and says Ghana should give its gold to him.

Abronye DC, whose real name is Kwame Baffoe and is the NPP Bono Regional Chairman, said what Ibrahim Mahama has done at Damang is unbelievable.

Speaking on Ohia TV’s ‘The Evidence’ program on October 22, Abronye did not hide his words. His quote that is trending everywhere says:

“Looking at the developments I’m seeing from Damang ever since Dr. Ibrahim Mahama took over the mine is far better than what Newmont has done in Kenyasi after operating the mine for 22 years.” 

In another video he went further: “Give all our mines to Ibrahim Mahama, he is doing well.” 

He said Ghana will benefit more if we give our gold to capable Ghanaian businessmen like Ibrahim Mahama instead of giving everything to foreign companies.

1. Abronye is NPP, Mahama is NDC family: Everyone knows Abronye is one of the biggest critics of the Mahama family. In the past, he even fought against Ibrahim Mahama’s bauxite concession at Nyinahin. So for him to now praise the President’s brother has shocked many people. 

2. Damang vs Newmont: Ibrahim Mahama’s company, Engineers & Planners (E&P), took over the Damang Mine in April 2026 after Gold Fields’ lease ended. Abronye says in just a few months, E&P has brought more development to Damang than Newmont Ghana has brought to Kenyasi and Ahafo in about 20 years. 

3. Call for Ghana First: Abronye’s main message is simple: “Give Ghana’s gold to Ibrahim Mahama】, not foreign companies”. He believes local investors care more about the community than multinationals. 

On social media, Ghanaians are divided. Some say “Truth will always prevail and he is confessing.” Others say the table has turned and Abronye is now seeing what NDC supporters have been saying.

The video with the gold bars and night shots of the big Damang mine has gone viral on Facebook and TikTok since yesterday. 

One thing is clear: when a man who once opposed Ibrahim Mahama now says “let’s give Ghana gold to him,” Ghana is listening.

Bottom line: According to Abronye, Ibrahim Mahama has achieved in Damang what foreign mining giants failed to do in decades.
