“Who Were The Vetting Committee Members Who Vetted Him” -Musah Dankwah Reacts To The Obuasi Incident
According to a post shared on Facebook on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, Musah Dankwah, Chief Executive Officer of Global InfoAnalytics, has questioned the competence of the committee members who vetted and cleared Zakaria Abdulai, the headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School, to contest for the Juaben Constituency Chairman position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Dankwah expressed concern about the circumstances surrounding Abdulai’s candidacy amid allegations of sexual misconduct involving female students. His comments have brought renewed attention to the party’s internal screening procedures and the standards used to determine the suitability of individuals seeking leadership positions.
In his post, Dankwah questioned the judgment of both the aspirant and the officials responsible for reviewing his candidacy. He suggested that the situation raised concerns about why Abdulai had decided to pursue the constituency leadership position while allegations against him remained a subject of public discussion.
The Global InfoAnalytics CEO also directed his criticism towards the committee members who assessed Abdulai’s eligibility and subsequently cleared him to participate in the constituency election. He argued that their decision deserved further scrutiny, particularly given the concerns surrounding the aspirant.
In his Facebook post, Dankwah asked, “But what does this tell us about the competence of people who vetted and cleared him in the first place? What were they thinking? Who were the vetting committee members?”
His questions focused on the responsibility of the vetting committee and whether the appropriate standards had been applied before Abdulai was cleared to contest for the position.
The remarks have added to discussions about the NDC’s candidate-selection procedures and the responsibility of political parties to maintain transparent and credible internal processes. Vetting committees are generally expected to assess candidates’ eligibility and suitability in accordance with established party rules.
The controversy also raises broader questions about how political organisations should respond when allegations concerning prospective leaders emerge. Such situations can place pressure on party officials to explain their decisions while ensuring that the screening process remains fair.
However, the allegations involving Abdulai should not be treated as proven misconduct without the findings of the relevant investigations or legal proceedings. Any assessment of the matter must distinguish between allegations and established facts.
Dankwah’s intervention has nevertheless drawn attention to the need for accountability in the party’s internal decision-making. Questions about who participated in the vetting process and the criteria used to clear Abdulai remain central to the concerns he raised.
Whether the NDC will respond to these questions or provide further clarification about its vetting procedures remains to be seen. Meanwhile, the issue has renewed public discussion about transparency, candidate screening and the standards expected of individuals seeking political leadership positions.
