What Sakaja Did To Mosiria During A Whatsapp Call Before Reassigning Him
Geoffrey Mosiria has claimed that a WhatsApp conference call with Governor Johnson Sakaja marked a turning point in his time at City Hall. In a statement reacting to his dismissal, he said the call came at a moment when his relationship with the governor was already breaking down, and that it explains the series of changes that followed.
According to Mosiria, the governor confronted him during the call, and the chief of staff Osman Khalifa was also on the line. He said the confrontation was linked to his refusal to be used in direct procurement that favoured people around the governor and his contractors. He described the call as evidence of the pressure he was under, and said participants can confirm what was said.
Mosiria alleged that the consequences came quickly. He claimed his powers as an Accounting Officer were removed and handed to junior officers through a memo he calls unprocedural. He also said the budget for the health docket he oversaw was reduced from Sh1.2 billion to Sh100 million, leaving him with almost nothing to work with.
After that, he said, he was reassigned to Environment, where he felt sidelined because his director reported straight to the governor. He claims he was left with nothing to do in his office, which pushed him to go out and lead street operations that would normally be done by junior staff. He later described being moved again, this time to customer service and public participation.
The official insists he has not had a proper meeting with the governor since December 28, 2023. He said his messages and calls go unanswered, and that he never got a chance to present his side. These are Mosiria’s claims, and they have not been independently verified. The details of the call itself have not been made public beyond his account.
