UNGIS-MCG Takes Off As Four Nigerians Make List

The United Nations Group on the Information Society (UNGIS) has announced the establishment of the Multistakeholder Consultation Group (UNGIS-MCG), designed to strengthen multistakeholder engagement and contributions, Cyber Era NG learns.

We gather that the four eminent Nigerians were selected from government, the private sector, civil society, the technical community, academia and international organizations and would be joining their colleagues from other parts of Africa and the rest of the world as members of the group.

The UNGIS-MCG builds on the outcomes of the WSIS+20 Review, including UN General Assembly Resolution A/RES/80/173, as well as stakeholder inputs through the 29th annual session of the CSTD, the annual WSIS Forum and UNGIS-related events, with a view to fostering inclusive multistakeholder dialogue.

Through the UNGIS-MCG, UNGIS seeks to facilitate consultation and engagement with stakeholder communities — governments, the private sector, civil society, the technical community, academia and international organizations.
