UCL: Anthony Gordon names team to beat in Champions League

According to Daily Post Nigeria on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, Anthony Gordon has declared Paris Saint-Germain the team to beat in the UEFA Champions League after the French club defeated Barcelona 4-2 in their encounter on Tuesday.

The Parisian side showcased their attacking quality with goals from Désiré Doué, Lucas Hernández, Vitinha, and Fabián Ruiz. Barcelona found it difficult to match PSG’s pace and intensity throughout the contest, prompting Gordon to acknowledge that the French outfit were worthy winners.

Speaking after the game, the England international praised PSG’s continued dominance in European football, saying, “PSG deserved to win. They’ve been the team to beat over the last two years, and they still are.”

Gordon also stressed that Barcelona must make significant improvements if they hope to compete for the Champions League title. He believes the Spanish club need to deliver more consistent performances and develop into a side capable of challenging Europe’s elite.

“We have to be better. We have to become the team to beat,” he stated.

PSG’s victory demonstrated why they remain one of the most formidable teams in European football. Their attacking threat, composure in important moments, and ability to punish defensive mistakes proved decisive in overcoming Barcelona.

Gordon’s comments reflect his confidence in PSG’s ability to remain a major force in the competition. At the same time, his assessment serves as a warning to Barcelona that they must improve considerably to match the standards set by the continent’s top clubs.

Barcelona must now turn their attention to their next fixtures, using the defeat as an opportunity to identify their shortcomings and make the necessary adjustments. Better performances will be essential if they are to strengthen their bid for Champions League success.
