Top 3 fathers and sons who played in the PSL

1. Thato Mohlamme and Benedict “Tso” Vilakazi:

Benedict Vilakazi, known for his skill and versatility, is regarded as one of the finest footballers to have played for Orlando Pirates. Despite his small stature, he compensated with a strong physique. Thato Mohlamme, currently playing for Uthongathi FC, is the son of the former Orlando Pirates captain. Like his father, Thato possesses excellent ball control and shares a similar physical build.

2. Lesley Manyathela and Kwena Manyathela Jr:

Lesley Manyathela was a revered forward in South African football and earned a reputation as one of the country’s best. Though his career was tragically cut short, his son, Lesley Kwena Manyathela Jr., is making his mark in the top league. Kwena, like his father, is a highly talented player who has previously represented Highlands Park and Tshakuma Tsha Madzivhandila FC.

Patrick Mayo, a former defender for Kaizer Chiefs, has a unique story in South African football. Both of his sons have followed in his footsteps and are playing professional football in the country. Khanyisa Mayo, a retired striker turned defender, currently plays for Cape Town City in the DStv Premiership. Khanyisa was a contender for the Nedbank Cup Most Promising Player of the Tournament award last year. On the other hand, Khanyisile Mayo is currently without a club.

These father-son duos showcase the legacy and influence passed down from one generation to the next in the world of South African football. Their stories exemplify the continuation of talent and skill within families, creating a remarkable father-son legacy in the PSL.
