Today’s Headlines:We’ll deliver Rivers, FCT for Tinubu—Wike insists;NIM Elects Mustapha as President

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has vowed that the Rainbow Coalition will mobilise massive votes for President Bola Tinubu in Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory ahead of the 2027 general elections. Speaking to coalition youths in Port Harcourt, Wike cited the Federal Government’s infrastructure projects and policy interventions as evidence of its performance, urging voters to judge political leaders by their achievements rather than campaign promises. He also criticised opposition figures, including Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, while calling for unity and stronger grassroots mobilisation.

The APC governorship candidate in Rivers State, Kingsley Chinda, pledged to run an inclusive, youth-friendly administration if elected, promising compulsory bursary payments by local government councils and improvements in technical and vocational education. Meanwhile, Rainbow Coalition youth leaders and student representatives pledged to mobilise voters across Rivers State’s 23 local government areas, tertiary institutions and the diaspora to support Tinubu’s re-election and other coalition-backed candidates in 2027.

Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate Adewole Adebayo has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s position on fuel subsidy, describing him as the Pharaoh of Egypt rather than Moses who could lead Nigerians to the promised land. Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Wednesday, Adebayo said Tinubu’s policies prioritised the interests of the government over the welfare of citizens.

Adebayo argued that Moses demonstrated kindness and provided for the Israelites, while accusing Tinubu of neglecting Nigerians’ needs. He said the country’s citizens were seeking to move away from the All Progressives Congress (APC) towards a better future, adding that the SDP offered a stronger chance of leading them to the promised land.
