Today’s Headlines: I’m Waiting for Obi, Atiku’s Call — Agada; Obasanjo Mourns Fasoranti, Uduaghan
The presidential candidate of the Young Progressives Party, YPP, Peter Agada has said he is waiting for a call from his counterparts in the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, and African Democratic Congress, ADC, Mr Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar, respectively, ahead of the 2027 general election.
Agada said he was willing to work with either or both opposition figures, provided they aligned with his plans for Nigeria.
He disclosed this while fielding questions on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Wednesday.
Asked how many votes he expected to garner in the 2027 presidential election, Agada said he was targeting between two million and 10 million votes.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has expressed sadness over the deaths of Reuben Fasoranti, former Afenifere leader, and Emmanuel Uduaghan, former Delta State governor.
Mr Obasanjo described Mr Fasoranti, who died on Tuesday, as one of the last surviving titans of a generation that laid the foundation for modern Nigeria through selfless service, sacrifice and unwavering integrity.
He said this in a statement on Tuesday in Abeokuta by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi.
According to Mr Obasanjo, Mr Fasoranti’s life exemplified purposeful leadership, integrity and an unwavering commitment to the progress of the Yoruba nation and Nigeria.
The former president described the late elder statesman’s death as the end of an extraordinary era, recalling his contributions to education and nation-building.
Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo will miss Sunday’s Clasico in La Liga against Real Madrid after being ruled out for around a month through injury on Wednesday.
“Tests have confirmed that Dani Olmo is suffering an injury to his left thigh,” said Spanish champions Barcelona in a statement, confirming he will be sidelined for “approximately one month”.
The Spain international went off hurt during Barca’s 4-2 Champions League defeat by Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday in the French capital.
As well as the visit of Real Madrid to Camp Nou, Olmo is set to miss league games against Alaves and Atletico Madrid, as well as facing Aston Villa in the Champions League.
Olmo will also likely be unable to play for World Cup winners Spain in Nations League games against the Czech Republic and England on November 12 and 15 respectively.
Few experiences cause Nigerian car owners as much anxiety as watching a temperature gauge spike toward the red mark while stuck in crawling Lagos or Ibadan traffic. When your bonnet starts smoking, the immediate advice from most roadside mechanics is to condemn the radiator, buy a new unit, and refill the tank.
Many motorists make that costly purchase with the hope that their cooling troubles are over. Yet, just a few days or hours down the road, the air conditioner stops blowing cold, steam escapes from under the hood, and the engine starts boiling all over again.
This frustrating situation happens because a vehicle’s cooling setup is an interconnected loop rather than a single component. While the radiator functions as the heat exchanger, it depends entirely on several other mechanical parts to move, pressurize, and cool the fluid flowing through your engine block.
