The United States Mission in Nigeria has issued a health advisory to American citizens in the country following the Federal Government’s confirmation of a case of Bundibugyo virus disease, a form of Ebola.
In an advisory published on its official X account on Wednesday, the mission said Nigerian health authorities were conducting contact tracing and other public health measures following the reported infection.
The mission also noted that the Nigerian government had stated that the infected individual travelled by air from Uganda.
It urged American citizens and other travellers to consult the United States Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for information on Ebola and health guidance for people travelling to Nigeria.
Isaac Fayose, younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has disclosed that Lere Olayinka, media aide to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, was among more than 10,000 Nigerians who submitted their account details after he invited people to participate in a giveaway.
In a video he posted on his Facebook page, Fayose criticised supporters of the All Progressives Congress, APC, claiming that they are also experiencing economic hardship in the country despite their support for the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
He stated that he recently announced a N1 million giveaway and asked interested Nigerians to drop their account numbers.
“More than 10,000 people responded to the offer, including Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike,” he said.
Former President Goodluck Jonathan has advocated improving the nation’s production capacity to address rising unemployment and strengthen the economy.
Jonathan noted that with the country’s huge population, over 65 per cent of whom are young, the only way to keep them engaged is to improve the nation’s production capacity.
He said, “The nation’s population is a huge number. So, we must convert the country into a factory. And when we convert the country into a factory for production, that is when we will create jobs and the economy will improve.”
The former President spoke in Abuja on Wednesday at the unveiling ceremony of a tricycle production factory owned by Zeetin Technologies Limited.
