“Thanks, Boss!” Fired Nairobi Chief Officer Geoffrey Mosiria Speaks Out, Declares 2027 Gubernatorial Bid
Former Nairobi County Chief Officer Geoffrey Mosiria has broken his silence following his official dismissal by Governor Johnson Sakaja. In a explosive statement, Mosiria thanked his former boss for making the sacking official while accusing City Hall leadership of unprocedural dismissals, financial strangulation, and systemic intimidation.
Addressing the public, Mosiria alleged that his actual removal occurred as far back as December 28, 2023, when Governor Sakaja stripped him of his constitutionally assigned duties as an Accounting Officer and handed them to subordinate officers. According to Mosiria, the decision was triggered by his refusal to participate in direct procurement practices meant to favor individuals close to the county boss and preferred contractors.
“Thank you, my boss, for making my sacking official,” Mosiria stated, adding that his health docket budget was drastically slashed from KSh 1.2 billion to KSh 100 million to paralyze his operations. He referenced a heated WhatsApp conference call involving the Governor and Chief of Staff Osman Khalifa, during which he was confronted for defying procurement pressure.
Following the friction, Mosiria was redeployed to the Environment department and subsequently moved to Citizen Engagement and Customer Service. He claimed that he was sidelined, with directors instructed to bypass him and report directly to the Governor.
Rather than sitting idle, Mosiria turned to hands-on street operations—a move that gained him popularity among Nairobi residents but sparked coordinated online attacks, frustration in official communication channels, and a court case that nearly saw him jailed for six months on alleged contempt.
Mosiria revealed that his last formal meeting with Governor Sakaja took place in December 2023 at a private office in Riverside. Since then, his attempts to raise grievances went ignored as the county chief refused to pick up calls or respond to messages.
Despite the political fallout, Mosiria expressed gratitude to the people of Nairobi and officially signaled his intention to run for the Nairobi Governor’s seat in the 2027 General Election.
Dismissing rumors of impending legal cases orchestrated to silence him, he emphasized that his resilience stems from a desire to fix Nairobi’s governance systems rather than fight individuals.
