Six Star Players Set to Miss Arsenal’s UCL Clash Against Bayern Munich as Worrying Update Emerges
According to a report by Football London on October 21, 2026, six players are set to miss Arsenal’s Champions League clash against Bayern Munich, while Mikel Arteta has received a triple boost ahead of the crucial encounter at the Allianz Arena.
Arsenal will face the German giants on Wednesday evening as they look to maintain their perfect start to this season’s Champions League campaign. The Gunners have won their opening two matches, beating Napoli 1-0 before securing a convincing 3-0 victory over Lille.
Those results have strengthened Arsenal’s position in the league phase, and another victory against Bayern could move them closer to the top of the standings.
However, Arteta must contend with several absentees as his side prepare for one of their toughest European tests of the season.
William Saliba remains unavailable as he continues recovering from a back problem. Although the French defender has returned to broader training at London Colney, he is not expected to return to competitive action until December.
Arsenal will also be without Christos Tzolis, who is recovering from a hamstring injury sustained while representing Greece, and Piero Hincapie, who is working his way back from an ankle problem picked up during training.
Despite those setbacks, Arteta has received encouraging news regarding Martin Zubimendi, who is expected to feature against Bayern after recovering from an ankle issue.
Speaking at his press conference on Tuesday, the Arsenal manager confirmed the midfielder’s availability, saying: “Zubi is back with us, he will be involved with us.”
Zubimendi’s return represents a significant boost for Arsenal, given his importance to the team’s midfield and ability to help control possession against difficult opposition.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich will also be without several important players for the encounter.
Jamal Musiala is unavailable because of a thigh injury, while Michael Olise will miss the match through suspension after receiving a red card during Bayern’s previous Champions League fixture against Viking.
Olise’s absence could be particularly significant for Vincent Kompany’s side. The winger has been one of Bayern’s key attacking players, and his suspension removes an important creative option against Arsenal’s defence.
Joshua Kimmich is also unavailable following a death in his immediate family. Bayern confirmed his absence in a statement and asked for his family’s privacy to be respected during their period of grief.
Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is another doubt because of a foot problem, adding to the uncertainty surrounding the German side’s preparations.
Kompany’s availability is also uncertain because of illness, with assistant coach Aaron Danks taking charge of Tuesday’s press conference.
