The teenage attacker set up Phil Foden for City’s fifth goal in the 76th minute, capping an impressive performance by the hosts at the Etihad Stadium.
McAidoo, who came on in the 62nd minute to replace Floyd Samba, showed his attacking quality with a well-timed run down the right flank before delivering a precise cross into the penalty area. Foden finished from close range to complete his hat-trick and seal the emphatic victory.
City had taken control of the contest through Elliot Anderson’s 12th-minute opener before Foden doubled their advantage in the 34th minute.
AEK briefly threatened a comeback when Stavros Pilios scored seven minutes into the second half, but Rayan Cherki restored City’s two-goal cushion in the 57th minute.
Foden added his second of the evening in the 65th minute before McAidoo helped create the final goal.
The assist marked a memorable contribution for the young winger, who was among the Manchester City youngsters handed an opportunity to feature in European competition.
City will look to build on the convincing result as their Champions League campaign continues.
