PSG’s Kvaratskhelia to Undergo Surgery After ACL Rupture

Paris Saint-Germain winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is set to undergo surgery after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee during the French club’s 4-2 victory over Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League.

According to a report by Punch on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, PSG confirmed the injury following medical examinations and disclosed that the Georgian international would undergo surgery in the coming days.

Kvaratskhelia sustained the injury during Tuesday’s encounter at the Parc des Princes in Paris. The 25-year-old was seen clutching his right knee after going down on the pitch and was unable to put weight on the affected leg before medical staff helped him off.

The injury represents a major setback for PSG as they seek to maintain their impressive start to the Champions League campaign. Kvaratskhelia has been an important figure in the team’s attacking setup, and his absence could limit manager Luis Enrique’s options in the coming months.

The French champions also confirmed that forward Ousmane Dembélé and captain Marquinhos sustained injuries during the same match.

Dembélé suffered an injury to his left thigh, while Marquinhos sustained an injury to his right thigh. According to the club, both players will continue receiving treatment over the coming weeks.

The three injuries have raised concerns for Enrique as PSG prepare for their upcoming domestic and European fixtures, with the manager potentially having to adjust his squad selection to cope with the absences.

Although PSG have confirmed that Kvaratskhelia requires surgery, the club has not provided a specific date for his return. His recovery period will depend on the procedure and the progress he makes during rehabilitation.

Despite the injury setbacks, PSG secured a 4-2 victory over Barcelona, recording their third consecutive win in the Champions League league phase.
