Prepare for Rains for the Next 4 Days if You Live in the Following Parts of the Country

Kenya Meteorological Department has forecast rainfall in 45 counties across the country between October 20 and October 26, 2026, warning that some areas could experience isolated storms while others face high daytime temperatures and cold nights.

The weekly forecast covers counties in the Coast, Northeastern, Eastern, Rift Valley, Central, Western, Nyanza and Nairobi regions, with weather conditions expected to vary from one location to another.

Counties expected to receive rainfall include Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Garissa, Turkana, Lamu, Mandera, Meru, Embu, Baringo, Bomet, Bungoma, Busia, Elgeyo Marakwet, Homa Bay, Kajiado, Kakamega, Kericho, Kiambu, Kilifi, Kirinyaga, Kisii, Kitui, Kwale, Laikipia, Machakos, Makueni, Marsabit, Migori, Murang’a, Nandi, Narok, Nyamira, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Siaya, Taita Taveta, Tana River, Tharaka-Nithi, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Vihiga and West Pokot.

The department cautioned that rainfall would not be evenly distributed across the affected counties, meaning some locations could receive significant amounts of rain while neighbouring areas experience lighter showers or remain relatively dry.

Parts of Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, Machakos, Laikipia, Samburu, Mandera, Wajir and Marsabit have also been identified as areas where isolated storms could occur during the forecast period.

Kenya Met further warned of high temperatures in the country’s arid and semi-arid regions. Daytime maximum average temperatures exceeding 35°C are expected in parts of Garissa, Wajir, Tana River, Isiolo, Kilifi, Marsabit, Samburu and Turkana counties.

Meanwhile, cooler night-time conditions are expected in sections of the central highlands and neighbouring areas. Parts of Meru, Tharaka-Nithi, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Nakuru and Kajiado could record average minimum temperatures below 10°C.

The contrasting conditions mean Kenyans may experience rainfall, thunderstorms, intense daytime heat or chilly nights depending on their location.

Residents in the affected areas, particularly farmers and people working outdoors, are advised to follow local weather updates and plan their activities according to the prevailing conditions.

The forecast runs through Monday, October 26, with Kenya Met noting that weather patterns and rainfall amounts may differ across locations within the same county.
