Orlando Pirates Set to Promote 14-Year-Old Talent Jacob “Messi” Serman

Orlando Pirates could soon take another step in developing one of their promising young talents, Jacob Serman, popularly known as “Messi” because of his impressive skills and ability to carry the ball.

The 14-year-old attacker is reportedly attracting attention after progressing from the club’s lower-level football setup to training with the Under-23 team in the DStv Diski Challenge (DDC). His progress has raised excitement among supporters who are eager to see what the youngster can achieve in the famous black and white colours.

Serman played for Orlando Pirates in South Africa’s fifth tier, the RCLFA Premier, last season. However, he is now training with players in the Under-23 setup despite being only 14 years old. The development highlights the potential the young footballer is believed to possess and the progress he has made at such an early stage of his career.

What makes Serman particularly interesting is his attacking style of play. The youngster is a left-footed player who can operate on either wing, playing on both the left and right sides of the attack. He can also feature as an attacking midfielder, giving his team several options when building attacks.

His dribbling ability, ball control and willingness to move forward have contributed to the nickname “Messi”. Like many young attackers who enjoy taking on defenders, Serman appears comfortable carrying the ball and looking for opportunities to create danger in the final third.

For Orlando Pirates supporters, the possibility of seeing the youngster progress through the club’s development system will be encouraging. The Buccaneers have continued to invest in young players, with the development structures providing an opportunity for talented footballers to improve and work towards senior-team football.

However, training with the Under-23 side does not automatically guarantee a promotion to the senior team. Serman will still need time, consistent performances and the right development environment to continue improving and fulfil his potential.

At just 14, he has plenty of time to learn, grow physically and develop the tactical understanding required to compete at higher levels of the game.

If he continues making progress, the young attacker could become a name worth following among the Pirates faithful.

For now, Buccaneers supporters will be watching his development with interest. Jacob “Messi” Serman is certainly a young talent to keep an eye on as he continues his journey through the Orlando Pirates ranks.
