Ndetei Opposes Daughter Angela Mulwa’s Bail but Reveals Why He Is Proud of Her
Professor David Ndetei has told the High Court that he fears for his life and opposes the release on bail of his former wife and their two children in the murder case involving his late wife.
Appearing before Milimani High Court Judge Alexander Muteti on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, Ndetei was cross-examined on his affidavit by the first three accused persons.
He said his former wife, Rose Mbithe Mulwa, and their son, Chris Mulwa, had allegedly threatened to reduce him to a chokora. He said he reported the threats at Mlolongo Police Station, but officers declined to record his statement.
Yet the most striking moments of the session came when the professor spoke about his daughter, advocate Angela Mulwa. Ndetei spoke warmly of her, telling the court he was proud of her and recalling that she attained the second position nationally in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examinations during her time.
His tender words came when defence lawyer Joel Mbaluka asked whether he would be comfortable with Angela being released on bail while the case is heard.
Ndetei did not waver on his position, but he took care to separate his love for his daughter from his stand on the proceedings.
“I do oppose Angela being released on bail, though she is a good girl academically,” he told the court.
He clarified that his praise for her academic achievements should not be read as a change of heart on the murder case. Still, his remarks revealed a father who, even in the tense setting of a courtroom, could not hide his pride in his child.
Ndetei also said he holds no bitterness toward his children. He noted that he had previously made public statements indicating that he had forgiven them, a sign that beneath the legal battle lies a deeply painful family rift.
The court will mention the matter on November 4, 2026, to fix a date for the ruling on the bail application.
The accused persons have not been convicted of any offence and remain innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.
